Why you should get a license?
The most common argument is the following:
What do I get in return for my license fee?
Without engaging in a detail discussion we will try to put your mind to ease about this sensitive issue.
The cost of the license is R 75. The additional club fee will determine the total cost. Club fees vary substantially and you will get what you pay for. It is therefore your decision to belong to a basic Club or a Club with additional benefits.
There are many low cost options of club membership available of which membership of FSC Recreational Riders is only R 25.
Your total cost of licensing is thus a minimal R 100 per annum.
What do you receive in return.
1. Exempt from paying the day license of R 35 every time you enter a race.
2. Information and newsletters from Cycling SA.
Think about this!
Our sport is supported by many people, some of them volunteers who spend energy, telephone calls, fuel and time to be a chairman, secretary, official or a road official at cycling races. To convert this energy, telephone calls, fuel and time into a rand value exceeds the R100 contribution by far.
Your license fee is thus a way in which you contribute to the sport.
Isn't this the least you can do?
Where does the income from licensing go?
As a Province we receive R 27-
At Free State Cycling you have access to the financial's to see where the money is spent.
With the database of licensees we are also able to improve our service for example
entry registration and compiling results. So please -
And a last comment.
Riders believe that not enough is done at administration level for the sport or that the service is of such a nature that they rather refuse to license or have the right to be upset about the issue.
We can truly say that no administrator, currently, in the past or in the future will do anything to harm the sport.
If you are not in a position to contribute your time to the sport the least you can do is to take out a license to enable the administrators to have a chance to take the sport to the next level.
Thanks to all.
